Cello Journey #15, Beethoven Sonata
NEW Higher Quality Download ==> Cello Journey #15, September 6, 2006
In this episode we play the first half of Sonata No. 4 by Ludwig van Beethoven. First there is a tender slower section and then a lively faster section.

Thanks for doing this Luke. This website is a sanctuary from the rubbish that litters the internet.

Wonderful! I know how important it is to have good interplay between the cello and the piano in these sonata’s, they are almost sonata’s for cello and piano not solo cello with piano accompaniment. The articulation was fantastic. I will definately consider playing this for my next recital, thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you for all those comments.
Jo Jackie - I hope your next recital goes really well.

I am a middle-aged adult who is just taking up cello. Your podcasts have continued to inspire me and renew my zeal when I have poor practice days. When I can play like you do, I’ll be there.
Thankyou

After I’ve had a practice and am too tired/sometimes dispirited! to play any more, your playing is just what I need! Please do keep updating us all with new pieces. I am a bit like Charles, been playing for about a year and a half and am just beginning to like what I play - sometimes…

Luke, I sent you an e-mail with some advice on avoiding a sore bowing arm.
Charles and Carolyn, it is great that you are learning the cello. I hope you get lots of enjoyment out of playing the cello.

Luke (Cellojourney Luke),
It would be great information to have, because when I have long programs, my arm is throbbing by the time we get to the end.
I would love to get a copy of that email.
(I use a bunch of different addresses, but I would prefer you sent it to my gmail! Thanks!)

Thanks for your music.

Relaxing yet exciting. You speak with such humbility but play with such confidence. Great mixture, keep it up. You took private lessons I’m guessing? What’s your day job?

Just wanted to say thanks for your production… I live in a very rural part of the country and happened to be reading Aaron Copeland’s “What To Listen For In Music”. I am starting to hunt out sonatas on the web here, and this was the first cello sonata that I have ever heard. Thanks again!

Hi. I just wanted to say that your music is beutiful. I am going to buy my first cello soon…so overwhelming. I don’t know where to start. But I do know that I have wanted to play the cello since I was a child. I constantly listen to your music. It soothes me.

Thank you so much. I am teaching my young children about instruments in our home school studies. Today, we watched a few episodes of your cello playing. It was wonderful because they could WATCH not just listen which is important for young children. You enhanced our home schooling with your beautiful music. Best Wishes.

Tim - That sounds wonderful. Thank you for letting me know. I am always hoping that Cello Journey can help with teaching.
